Hi!
I'm your iconic lover. Interpret it as you will.
Here I will share stories and ideas that are precent for me in the moment.
I am a firm believer that love is to be found in all of us, and that by healing ourselves we will heal our planet.
I haven't gotten it all figured out (that's not the goal here anyways), but I know this:
I am a storyteller.
Not in the same way I think of Roald Dahl as a storyteller, this "once upon a time" with some great moral at the end. I am a storyteller in the ways that I live my life, create space for the people I love (and the once I have yet to get to know), seek new perspectives, share my discoveries, facilitate conversations, and plan my adventures.
I also did study storytelling for three years at Westerdals School of arts and communication in Oslo, Norway.
I've also worked as an art director/marketing person for the past four years (which is basically storytelling put into a commercial business).
But! More then anything I am a storyteller because I care.
I care about the stories we tell ourselves, and the stories we believe in and cultivate as a collective.
These two aspects of storytelling is specifically important to me.
Because when it all comes down to it, the stories we tell is what creates our reality (more on this topic later, but just to be clear: This does not mean I belive that when people are starving and there's wars we can just tell ourselves "no one is starving and there is no war!"... That’s stupid.)
I am no soccer fan, but my boss is. He keeps referring to the Liverpool slogan "This means more". And I've come to really love it. This means more. This moment means more than just this moment. You reading this is not just you reading this. It has the potential to be the beginning of you generating new ideas and perspectives into your life. Me writing this has the potential for me to start new conversations with strangers. Me writing this might lead to me finally finishing my book!... Maybe!... Someday!... Hopefully!
You picking up trash means more than just you picking up that one piece of trash. If someones sees it, it might inspire them to pick up some trash too, and if nobody sees it, it can be helpful for building your own habit of trash-picking, or even provent you from future knee pain! (bending down to pick up stuff is a way to stretch the hamstrings which is good for the knees. Yes, my Substack notes will also provide you with cool habits you can include in your life to improve overall health, thus I am Your Iconic Lover - duh 💅🏻 !)
This can mean more in bad ways as well. You buying a t-shirt at Zara means more than just you buying a t-shirt at Zara. It means you are contributing to a fucked up system of extraction, production, distribution, consumption, and finally disposal. Along this system actual people are working. So it is not just you buying a t-shirt from Zara. Your action is connected to other human beings and their doings. Your actions means more. More (much more!! This is a huge one for me!) on this topic later, but to begin with I strongly recommend this ICONIC youtube-video "The Story of Stuff".
You'll get to know me more trough future writings. For now, I’ll share these silly-cliché, but beautiful, self-declared identifications (please steal them!):
I am a worrier of Love.
I am a worrier for Gaia.
My life-goal is to make people love themselves (whoa! Huge words from a small gal! Iconic!). Through self love I strongly believe we will learn to love each other as well, and treat our planet earth with the grace and love that she deserves. Gaia is the name I like to use for this round, sacred, stone we are so lucky to wander upon. For me Gaia is female, but that's just a story I tell myself (good stories helps clean up some of the mess in my head), and so it holds no objective truth. What matters is not how the story is told, but that it teaches us to love and listen to her. There are many ways one can tell this story, and different tales will speak to different souls. Hopefully my tone of voice will speak to some of you. Much more on all of this later!
Also worth mentioning, I am Norwegian. My written English won't be perfect but I hope you can appreciate my accent in written form. I believe it brings some character to my writings. Like a sociolect, kinda? I am also here to improve my English though, so friendly feedback and corrections are surly appreciated.
